Waiting For Daylight by Janell Kleberg, signed

$60.00

Philanthropist and photographer Janell Kleberg writes of the ranch work she has documented on film for King Ranch over the past thirty years: "The fabric of existence for those who live and work in tandem with nature is woven on the warp of generations past. The agricultural community from which these photographs were drawn over three decades was both colorful and durable. It was filled with great character and a rich history."

A true cowgirl, Janell has been involved with all aspects of ranch work from breaking, training, and showing horses with her husband to working on cattle properties around the world. The skills honed from working with the herds of King Ranch, running 40,000 head in Texas and 50,000 in Brazil, offered her the unique opportunity to document a remarkable era.

This book consists of photographs taken from horseback while working cattle in South Texas, Brazil, Argentina, and Australia. The photographs capture an era when people lived out their lives on lands that were often inhospitable with great herds of red cattle and fine cow horses. These beautiful, historic images communicate a feeling of constant renewal combined with the sense of suspended time.
The author-photographer worked side by side with her subjects, creating a unique perspective. She was firm about authenticity and very careful to be unobtrusive.
