Tad Lucas: Trick Riding Rodeo Cowgirl
TAD LUCAS: TRICK-RIDING RODEO COWGIRL
Laura B. Edge, author and Stephanie Ford, Illustrator.
Texan Tad Lucas traveled the world dazzling rodeo crowds with her daring trick riding, bronc riding, and steer riding. She competed for more than forty years and is the only woman honored by all three rodeo halls of fame: the National Rodeo Hall of Fame, the National Cowgirl Hall of Fame, and the Pro Rodeo Hall of Fame. In her will, she established the Tad Lucas Memorial Award to honor women who excel in any field related to Western heritage. Her spirit lives on through her daughters and the millions of girls who follow their hearts across the West. Illustrations from cowgirl and Western artist Stephanie Ford accompany the text while sidebars provide rodeo facts.
Laura B. Edge earned a BA in education from the University of Texas at Austin and studied abroad at the American Institute of Foreign Study. After years of teaching, she has happily jumped into full-time writing. Stephanie Ford loves horses and frequently features the graceful creatures in her art. Ford is a member of International Society of Scratchboard Artists and Women Artists of the West and has even done trick riding!
