Ruby Necklace watch fob c. 1875
This antique watch fob has a carved horseshoe and horse head on chain, carved from mother of pearl, mint condition, circa 1875. What makes this piece unique and unusual is the detail of the hand holding the buggy whip.
The necklace is hand-strung dark red ruby faceted beads, 2 diamond roundels and peruvian opals. Gold fill beads, spacers and clasp. The rubies are similar to the type of ruby found in Tanzania mineral deposits but a lower grade, according to our antique source.
Antique Victorian and Georgian pieces and beads from verified sources.
