Mrs. Claus ornament
Since Santa Claus evolved from St. Nicholas, a celibate priest, no Mrs. Claus existed in Europe. However, a Mrs. Claus ornament was originally created by German glassblowers who felt she would be appealing to the American public. The family concept took hold, and Mrs. Claus was welcomed into American holiday stories and celebrations.
Created with age-old traditions using the same techniques that originated in the 1800's, each ornament starts with molten glass that is mouth-blown into finely carved molds. Liquid silver is poured inside and each ornament is then hand-painted and glittered in rich detail.
This ornament measures approximately 5.0" x 2" x 1" and ships safely packaged.
